About Musicor
1967 - The Beatles were in their prime and fresh, and people like Engelbert Humperdink, Sandy Posey, the Monkees, the Mamas and Papas and the Lovin' Spoonful ruled the airwaves. In Whangarei, New Zealand, Dave Ryan and Ewan Simpson were thinking about setting up shop in the music business. On May 5, 1967 Musicor opened in a basement shop.
Dave, as a musician, was familiar with the then music industry and also because he had previously been employed by a large musical merchandise company.
It's a very glamorous looking industry from the outside, he muses. "But to make it successful you've got to do a lot of work." Dave is now sole owner of Musicor.
